The Macomb High School Lady Bomber volleyball teams will be trading in their traditional black and orange jerseys and the standard white volleyball for pink sportswear and a pink volleyball as part of the teams' annual "We Dig Pink" event, which raises money for the local Linda's Fund. The fun and games begin at 5:00pm with the freshman game, followed by theJV and varsity games at 6:00 and 7:00, respectively.
A bake sale will be held, and raffle drawings for prizes, donated from local businesses and organizations, will be held throughout the evening. All proceeds of the sale and raffle will be donated to Linda's Fund.
Last year, the "We Dig Pink" event raised a little over $1,000 and the goal this year is at least $1,500.
Linda's Fund was created in October 2008 in memory of Linda (Ren) Bainter, who passed away in April 1996 at the age of 57 after a second battle with breast cancer. Established at McDonough District Hospital through the generosity of Linda's son Brad Bainter and his wife Amy Spelman, and supported by family and friends, the fund is used to assist breast cancer patients and their families.
