Hiroyuki Fujita, president and CEO of Quality Electrodynamics and a 1992 graduate of Monmouth College, will deliver MC’s annual Wendell Whiteman Memorial Lectur.

Fujita’s company is a developer and manufacturer of state-of-the-art radiofrequency antennas that are used in magnetic resonance imaging machines. Headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, Fujita’s company has grown from seven employees at the end of its first year in 2006 to more than 100.

Three years ago, Forbes placed QED 11th on its list of the 20 most promising companies in America. Additionally, QED has been called one of America’s fastest-growing private companies by Inc. magazine, which also named Fujita one of its Top 10 Asian Entrepreneurs in America.

In 2012, Fujita was a guest of President Obama and the First Lady at the State of the Union Address, where the Japanese native was recognized as an outstanding example of an individual who came to the U.S. as a student and stayed to build companies.

Fujita’s invitation to deliver the Whiteman Lecture was due in part to his success in integrating science and business- a focus of Monmouth College in the construction of its new Center for Science and Business. Fujita believes the college is on the right track with its intentional blending of the two disciplines.

Founded in 1992, the Whiteman Lecture Series brings prominent leaders of American business and industry to the Monmouth College campus. Previous lecturers have included the CEOs of Caterpillar, Ford Motor Co., Pennzoil and Jewel. It is named in memory of Wendell Whiteman, an alumnus of the college and long-time executive of Security Savings Bank in Monmouth.
