The award-winning Knox-Galesburg Symphony will feature concertmaster violinist Louise Polay at its' season subscription concert.

The KGS, under the direction of artistic director/conductor Bruce Polay, will perform Brahms’ Symphony No. 1 in C minor, Opus 68 and Waschka’s “Belgrade” Overture for Orchestra. Louise Polay will perform Saint-Saëns Violin Concerto No. 3 in B minor, Opus 61.

Louise Polay, the wife of KGS artistic/director conductor Bruce Polay, has been with the KGS as an orchestra member since 1984. She has held the positions of principal second violin, associate concertmaster and since the 2007-08 season as concertmaster. A native of Arizona, she attended Arizona State University (ASU) on a four year scholarship. She has played in the Arizona Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Lyric Opera Theatre and Collegium Musicum. While there, she graduated “summa cum laude” earning a Bachelor of Music degree in violin performance studying with Dr. Eugene Lombardi, former concertmaster of the Phoenix Symphony. Currently Polay, who has taught violin for over thirty years and done chamber work in Arizona and Illinois, teaches violin at Knox and Carl Sandburg Colleges and has her own private studio. She began the string program at Costa Catholic Academy and taught there for three years. She is very active in her church where she serves as organist.
