John Mann’s first book of poems, "Able, Baker, Charlie," won the 2011 National Poetry Review Book Prize and was published in 2012 by National Poetry Review Press. Finishing Line Press published "Wyoming," in a chapbook of poems, in 2008. His poems have also appeared in numerous journals.

His play, "Mass Destruction, Weapons Of," was produced by New World Arts Theatre in Goshen, Indiana in 2004. He won a Poetry Fellowship from the Illinois Arts Council in 2002.

Mann taught for many years in the Department of English and Journalism at Western Illinois University, where he won awards for both distinguished teaching and research. He was also a resident fellow at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts in 2008.
