Native Landscapes
(2008-09-16)
(Interlochen Public Radio) - It's estimated that urban and suburban landscapes now cover more than half the country. And, typically, plant life in those landscapes is designed to be insect-free. But a bug researcher is trying to convince backyard gardeners that a mix of native plants and insects actually is healthier because it provides food that supports a wide range of creatures. And some of those creatures, like certain songbirds, are in steep decline. Bob Allen reports. © Copyright 2009, Interlochen Public Radio
