INTERLOCHEN PUBLIC RADIO
(Interlochen Public Radio) -
The state Department of Natural Resources announced Friday this year's first confirmed cases of Type-E Botulism in Shorebirds along Lake Michigan. There've been large-scale die-offs in recent years in Northwest Lower Michigan, especially near the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. The first cases this year are in the Ludington area, Mason County - 35 dead birds confirmed to have had the disease. IPR's Linda Stephan talks with D-N-R Biologist Tom Cooley.
