Grand Traverse County Sheriff Race
INTERLOCHEN PUBLIC RADIO
(Interlochen Public Radio) -
The primary race for sheriff in Grand Traverse County could be close this year. The sheriff's department has been in the news lately after a police sniper shot a man dead in Interlochen and an inmate hung herself in the County jail. The incumbent Scott Fewins wants a third four-year term but is being challenged by a department veteran, Tom Bensley. There's also a candidate with no law enforcement experience, Brian Weese. Whoever wins next week's primary will run unopposed in November.
