(Interlochen Public Radio) - You may think of Michigan primarily as the auto state. Or a tourist Mecca for freshwater beaches, lakes and dunes. But farming? Yet Agriculture consistently ranks in the top three job producers in the state. And the variety of crops grown here is listed as second only to California. The Ag sector faces a number of challenges: food safety, water withdrawals and migrant labor among them.
