(2006-07-28)
INTERLOCHEN, MI
(Interlochen Public Radio) -
An underwater explorer and the state of Michigan continue to be at odds over what could be an historic find. Steve Libert is pretty sure he's located the wreck of the first sailing vessel to explore the Great Lakes. "The Griffon" is believed to have sunk in northern Lake michigan in 1679. But state officials question Libert's right to the wreck. And they say he may have violated rules to raise funds for underwater exploration. Bob Allen reports.
