All N.C. Bars, Restaurants Become Non-Smoking
(2009-05-19)
(whqr) - Governor Bev Perdue signed a bill into law today banning smoking in North Carolina bars and restaurants.

Governor Perdue called the passing of the smoking ban bill "an important and historic day for North Carolina." The Rusty Nail is a renown bar favored by blues musicians. Sandy Williams, the Rusty Nail's owner, agrees with the Governor that the smoking ban bill is important, but for different reasons.

"I'm expecting a significant effect on business. I do think that my guests will enjoy the fact that I've gotten together a plan of my own for outside smoking, but yes, I think it's going to affect everybody."

Williams says she is improving her outdoor patio in anticipation of the smoking ban, which kicks in January 2nd. © Copyright 2009, whqr
