Topsail Beach was quiet yesterday, with only a handful of swimmers venturing out into the waves or relaxing on the sand.

Nick Little and his wife Renee are from Greensboro, North Carolina. They refused to let Tropical Storm Hanna get in the way of a good time.

"I mean, if it was a category 3 or anything, we definitely wouldn't even think about coming out here. But since it's a tropical storm, maybe a [category] 1, I'm not really concerned."

The couple says the storm lowered their hotel rate, while hotel employees will be boarding up ocean-front windows to prepare.
