Cape Fear Community College wants to use the money to build three buildings: one for life sciences; another for advanced technologies; and a third for general classroom space.
The extra space will be used to train nurses and medical technicians and to train employees for any new technical jobs that come to the region.
Two of the buildings would go up on the college's downtown campus and the other on the north campus out in the county. Cape Fear Community College president Eric McKeithan says it's the least expensive plan for expansion.
