Event organizers handed out Obama beer koozies and stickers as the standing-room-only crowd gazed starry-eyed at televisions around the room.
Former Marine David Grace says he voted for Bush in 2000, but he's voting for Obama this November. Grace says he wanted to be part of the event.
"When I heard he was going to do it in Invesco field, in front 75,000 people, I just couldn't picture myself sitting on my couch and watching that," says Grace.
Nick Zachetti said the palpable camaraderie in the room seemed to echo the inclusive theme of the democratic convention's final night.
"We come here, we watch the screen, we meet neighbors we've never met before, and no matter what differences we may have, we have one thing in common, we all have what Obama says, we have hope," says Zachetti.
Others gathered in downtown Wilmington to watch Obama's speech said they were hoping to hear the nominee get specific about the issues.
