Reaction to NH Co Board Shake Up
(2008-12-02)
(whqr) - The former Chairman of the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners says Monday night's votes for a brand new chairman and vice chairman could signal a new coalition on the board.

For the last five years either Bobby Greer or Bill Caster has held the top positions, but now that they're both out, Greer says that could change the board's dynamic.

"I think it's kind of unusual that we have a vice chairman or a chairman either one. This time we have ah, something must have been worked out to have a brand new person as vice chairman."

Newcomer Jason Thompson was voted into the vice chairman's seat, and returning commissioner Ted Davis Jr. is the new chairman. Thompson says there was discussion about the appointments going into last night's meeting.
