Archaeology of Civil War Barracks in the Cape Fear Region lecture by Tom Beaman

Mr. Beaman is one of the best known archaeologists working in the Cape Fear region, and has specialized in Civil War barracks and other military historical sites. After working for the Office of the State Archaeologist for some years, Mr. Beaman is now an instructor at Wake Technical Community College. He has recently excavated Fort Caswell and Fort Anderson/Brunswick Town, and has supervised several archaeological field schools in the Wilmington area. He recently presented and published “Untold Tales of Two Cities: The Curiously Limited Historical Archaeologies of Wilmington and Charlotte,” a discussion of the lack of archaeological excavation in these two important North Carolina cities.
