The Cape Fear Recovery Month Committee will host the area’s annual Recovery Month celebration on Saturday, September 14 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Empie Park in Wilmington, emphasizing the national theme, “Join the Voices of Recovery Together on Pathways to Wellness.”
The Recovery Month celebration will feature live music, refreshments, door prizes, local speakers, and will showcase services and resources in the community that support different pathways to wellness.
The keynote speaker for the event will be Dr. Al Mooney, internationally recognized expert in the field of addiction and recovery, and co-author of the acclaimed The Recovery Book. Dr. Mooney identifies himself as a “recovery activist” and speaks regularly at events in the U.S. and abroad, addressing professional and lay audiences alike on topics such as “Brain Healing in Recovery,” “Neuroplasticity: Rewiring the Brain to Empower Full Recovery,” and “Evolving Science of Abstinence and 12-Step Recovery.
The annual Recovery Month celebration is open to the public, and all are invited to support recovery and continue showcase the Cape Fear area as an example of good health and wellness.
