The Cape Fear Literacy Council will host “An Evening with Jeffery Deaver” on Sunday, October 20, at UNCW’s Burney Center Ballroom. All proceeds from this event will benefit the Cape Fear Literacy Council, a 501(c)3 public charity that serves adult learners in New Hanover and Pender Counties.
A former journalist, folksinger and attorney, Jeffery Deaver is an international, number-one bestselling author. His novels have appeared on bestseller lists around the world, including the New York Times, the Times of London, Italy’s Corriere della Sera, the Sydney Morning Herald and the Los Angeles Times. His books are sold in 150 countries and have been translated into over twenty-five languages.
The author of thirty-one novels, two collections of short stories and a nonfiction law book, he’s received or been shortlisted for a number of awards around the world, including the Steel Dagger and the Short Story Dagger from the British Crime Writers’ Association and the Nero Wolfe Award. He is a three-time recipient of the Ellery Queen Readers Award for Best Short Story of the Year and a winner of the British Thumping Good Read Award.
General admission tickets to the 6:00 program are $30 per person. Mr. Deaver will discuss his writing process – where he gets his ideas, what types of research he conducts and how he pulls all the information together to build his novels - followed by a question and answer session.
Meet Jeffery Deaver at a 7:30 p.m. VIP Cocktail Reception immediately after his presentation. A $75 ticket includes premium seating for the presentation and drinks and hors d’oeuvres at the reception. Attendance is limited for this event.
