Artist/Group:
| Indian art dates from the third millennium B.C. to modern times. Survey topics include early rock-cut cave temples and lost-wax bronze sculptures, traditional forms of painting, such as the miniature, as well as Paleolithic cave paintings and historical era cave frescoes (such as the Ajanta Caves) that date between the 2nd and 10th centuries C.E. Additionally, the unique impact of the British Raj on Indian art as well as reactions to the Western influence (such as the Bengal School of painting, the Indian avant-garde and contemporary Indian styles) complete our chronological journey through the rich traditions of Indian art. |
