“Just when you thought science was only for scientists, the Great Backyard Bird Count offers an opportunity for everyone to participate in research that goes into bird conservation. So, during President’s Day weekend, log onto Great Backyard Bird Count,” says commentator Andy Wood, as he makes his rounds for this year’s bird count.

"We are collecting data about the presence of birds in early winter because birds tell us much about the changing face of our world. We know, for example, that many birds are now found further north in winter than just 40 years ago, testimony to a warming climate trend."
