Cabela's May Build in West Michigan
(2008-08-20)
(wgvu) - LANSING, Mich. (AP) - An official with Cabela's Inc. says the
company is encouraged a developer has won a state grant to clean up
a site for a possible second outdoor equipment store in Michigan.
Governor Jennifer Granholm says developers hope a
125,000-square-foot Cabela's will anchor a new retail, office and
housing development near the Grand Rapids suburb of Wyoming.
Cabela's said Wednesday in a statement that the brownfield
credit will help move the project forward, but it hasn't yet
decided whether to build a second store.
The company says it's excited about the prospect of having
another Michigan location but still is deciding whether to move
forward.
Michigan's first Cabela's store opened in Dundee in August 2000
and is a top tourist attraction.
