Gambling Crackdown
Detroit-area bars.
The Michigan State Police Gaming Section and the Michigan Liquor
Control Commission say Tuesday they conducted raids recently on
seven bars as part of what authorities are calling "Operation
Unplugged."
The raids stem from complaints dating back to 2006 that bars
were paying customers for credits earned on video poker and video
slot machines. Such payments are in violation of gambling
regulations.
Twenty-three video poker and slot machines, as well as $21,830
in cash, were seized in the raids.
