Fate to Settle Vote Ties
Michigan.
Two candidates received the same number of votes Tuesday in the
race for treasurer in Muskegon County's Blue Lake Township.
There was also a two-way tie in a Sterling Heights precinct
delegate race in Macomb County.
The winners of the races will be randomly determined Friday at
the respective county clerks' offices.
State law requires each clerk to write the word "elected" on
one slip of paper and "not elected" on another, and then place
both inside a box.
Each candidate must then draw a slip.
Sometimes a coin is tossed to determine who goes first. That
will be done in Macomb County.
Each loser retains the right to demand a vote recount.
