Comstock Park Janitor Pleads Guilty to Serial Theft
(2008-08-07)
(wgvu) - GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) - A former Comstock Park High School
janitor accused of stealing from students and teachers during a
two-year period has pleaded guilty to two felony counts of larceny.
Forty-four-year-old Ricky Wright of Sparta entered the pleas
Wednesday in Kent County Circuit Court.
Wright faces up to four years in prison at his sentencing
hearing scheduled for Sept. 29.
Police say he took ball gloves from students and high-end
calculators from teachers to sell them on eBay.
The Grand Rapids Press reports that the break in the case came
when a teacher looking to replace her stolen calculator spotted it
on the Internet auction site.
Wright was a janitor at the school for 10 years before being
fired for the thefts.
