(wgvu) - SEVERAL MUSKEGON COUNTY RACES HAD CONTESTS TUESDAY, AMONG THEM THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE, WHERE INCUMBENT TONY TAGUE TURNED BACK A CHALLENGE FROM AL SWANSON.

FOR CLERK, NANCY WATERS WILL PROVIDE DEMOCRATIC OPPOSITION FOR KAREN BUIE IN THE FALL. LONG TIME TREASURER TONY MOULITSIOTIS FACES REPUBLICAN LARRY VAN DER MOLEN.

AND IN AN EIGHT WAY MARATHON FOR COUNTY DRAIN COMMISSIONER, DEMOCRAT JEFF HELPER AND REPUBLICAN JEFF FISHER EMERGED AT THE TOP OF THEIR RESPECTIVE PARTIES AND WILL GO ON TO THE NOVEMBER RUNOFF. ONE UPSET IN COUNTY COMMISSION RACES, WHERE IMCUMBENT DON ALEY WAS DEFEATED BY CHALLENGER CHARLES NASH.

THE REST OF THE CONTESTED COMMISSIONER RACES FOUND VOTERS SENDING INCUMBENTS BACK FOR ANOTHER TERM.

TURNING TO THE PROPOSALS, NO SWEAT FOR A COUNTY WIDE VETERANS MILLAGE ISSUE, WHICH FLEW THROUGH. ONLY ONE MILLAGE FAILED, A HEADLEE ROLLBACK INCREASE IN FRUITPORT TOWNSHIP. OTHERS, INCLUDING PUBLIC SAFETY AND STREET LIGHT QUESTIONS, PASSED EASILY.
