McCain Touts Nuclear Energy in Michigan
(2008-08-05)
(wgvu) - FRENCHTOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - John McCain will visit a
nuclear power plant in Michigan to promote the need for more
nuclear energy.
The Republican presidential candidate plans to tour Detroit
Edison's Fermi 2 nuclear power plant Tuesday afternoon. The DTE
Energy Co.-owned plant is in Monroe County's Frenchtown Township,
about 30 miles south-southwest of Detroit.
McCain is making the trip to highlight his support for adding
more nuclear power plants to decrease the nation's dependence on
foreign oil.
His trip comes a day after Democratic rival Barack Obama laid
out his own energy plan during a campaign event in Lansing that
included more support for fuel-efficient vehicles.
