Van Crash in Muskegon
(2008-08-05)
(wgvu) - MUSKEGON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Police say at least five people
have been seriously injured after a large van rolled over on U.S.
31 in Muskegon County.
Muskegon Township police say 15 people were inside the van when
it crashed Tuesday afternoon.
An undetermined number of people were taken to hospitals.
Police Officer Jeff Thomas tells The Muskegon Chronicle that it
appears the van's occupants were headed for the Michigan Womyn's
Music Festival.
The annual event begins Wednesday near Walkerville in Oceana
County.
Thomas says a tire on the van blew out, sending it skidding into
a guardrail. The vehicle then flipped over one and a half times
before coming to rest upside-down on the roadway.
The accident blocked northbound U.S. 31 for hours.
