Canadian Arrested in Drug Bust Gets Bond
(2008-08-05)
(wgvu) - DETROIT (AP) - Over the objections of a prosecutor, a judge set
bond for a Canadian citizen who is charged with trying to sneak
more than 50,000 Ecstasy pills into the U.S.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Leibson wanted Adwar Odisho
(O-DEE-shoe) to remain in jail while his case moves through federal
court in Detroit. Odisho lives in Windsor, Ontario, and authorities
fear he won't return.
On July 26, officers at the Ambassador Bridge discovered 38
pounds of Ecstasy in the spare tire of his van.
A judge set a $10,000 bond Tuesday, but Odisho's immediate
release was delayed because of immigration issues.
Prosecutors will have another chance to keep him in custody
after a grand jury reviews the case for an indictment.
