Pictured Rocks Highway Closes for Year
National Lakeshore in the Upper Peninsula is shutting down and
won't open again until next year.
The Mining Journal of Marquette reports part of Alger County
Highway 58 is being closed for construction.
About 10 miles of the roadway from the Little Beaver Lake
Campground Road to the Kingston Lake Campground will undergo work
as part of the $5.1 million project.
The full construction zone will be closed off by Wednesday and
reopen in August 2009.
Pictured Rocks is a federally protected area covering more than
40 miles of shoreline along Lake Superior.
