Jackson Shooting
killed a man who pointed a gun at them while they were responding
to the scene of another fatal shooting.
Deputy Chief John Holda said Monday that two officers and an
acting sergeant responded Sunday morning to a report of shots fired
and were told a man was seen dragging a woman's body from the
street.
Holda says the man, later identified as 24-year-old Marshan
Worthey of Jackson, was spotted nearby and all three fired after he
pointed a gun at them.
The officers weren't injured and were placed on administrative
leave.
Holda says 22-year-old Shakia Kelley of Jackson died following
the initially reported shooting. Holda says police suspect Worthey
shot Kelley, but were awaiting the outcome of ballistics tests.
