Wisconsin Shooting
(2008-08-04)
(wgvu) - The mother of an Upper Peninsula man suspected of
ambushing a group of young revelers at a swimming hangout says he
may have snapped after police began investigating him for sexual
assault.
Judy Johnson says her son was a once-carefree father of two who
became introverted after his wife left him seven years ago and took
their children with her to Ohio.
She says police gave her their business card Thursday and asked
her to have her son call them about a case they wouldn't discuss
with her.
Thirty-eight-year-old Scott Johnson told her he would take care
of it and walked out.
Police say he later jumped from bushes at the Michigan-Wisconsin
line and opened fire, killing three young people and wounding a
fourth.
