Judge Revokes Detroit Mayor's Bond
(wgvu) - DETROIT (AP) - A Detroit judge has struck down the conditions of
Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick's bond -- ordering him to pay $7,500 and
undergo random drug testing.
District Court Judge Ronald Giles' ruling today came after two
law enforcement investigators testified an irate Kilpatrick shoved
one of them a day earlier.
Giles says Kilpatrick's behavior constitutes harassment and
called the situation "ridiculous."
Giles also says the mayor will need the court's approval for
certain travel.
Kilpatrick's previous bond was $75,000, but he was not required
to pay. Now, he owes 10 percent.
Kilpatrick and former top aide Christine Beatty face perjury and
other charges tied to their testimony in a civil trial last year.
They deny the charges.
