(wgvu) - Governor Granholm says she's not ready to
oppose a constitutional rewrite backed by some unions and
Democrats, even though it faces a legal challenge to get on the
November ballot.
The Democratic governor says there are good ideas included in
the proposal. She didn't go into specifics but said earlier this
month that she liked a part letting people vote absentee without
having to give a reason.
Her latest comments came yesterday, the same day a group led by
the Michigan Chamber of Commerce sued to keep the measure off the
ballot. The suit says wholesale changes to the constitution aren't
allowed in a single ballot issue.
