Gov. Likes Parts of Constitutional Re-Write
ready yet to say she opposes a constitutional rewrite backed by
some unions and the state Democratic Party.
The Democratic governor told reporters Thursday there are a lot
of good ideas included in the ballot proposal being pushed by a
group called Reform Michigan Government Now.
A group led by the Michigan Chamber of Commerce is expected to
go to court Thursday to block the measure, which would drop two
Republican justices from the state Supreme Court and make other
sweeping changes to state government.
The group argues so much of the constitution can't be amended in
one shot. Critics label it a partisan power grab.
Granholm agrees it may have trouble getting on the ballot.
