Secretaries of State
(wgvu) - Many of the nation's secretaries of
state are meeting in Grand Rapids to discuss a new system for organizing presidential primaries and other topics.
The annual summer meeting of the National Association of Secretaries of State begins Thursday and will run through Monday.
Michigan Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land is hosting the conference.
The Grand Rapids Press reports more than 30 secretaries of state will attend the meeting.
Among the items on the conference agenda is a proposal to rotate presidential primaries by region so all parts of the country have a chance to go first in the process.
Keynote speakers will include two Michigan congressmen, Republican Vernon Ehlers and Democrat John Conyers.
