Fugitive Mom
California mother with escaping a Detroit-area prison 32 years ago.
If convicted, Susan Lefevre (LUH'-fee-vur) could face probation
or up to five more years in prison. She's already back in Michigan
serving at least 5 1/2 years for drug crimes 32 years after fleeing
the prison.
The 53-year-old mother of three was arrested in April outside
her home in an affluent area of San Diego.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said today it's admirable
that LeFevre made something of her life, but she must accept
responsibility for escaping prison.
The escape charge would be served after her sentence for selling
heroin.
LeFevre's attorney says it's regrettable that the prosecutor
decided to dedicate taxpayers' resources to the case. © Copyright 2021, wgvu
