Michigan Senate Race Poll
(2008-07-22)
(wgvu) - A new poll shows Democratic incumbent Carl
Levin with more than a 20-point lead over his Republican rival in
the U.S. Senate race.
Levin was the favorite of 58 percent of those polled, while 32
percent said they'd vote for Hoogendyk, a state lawmaker from
Kalamazoo.
Ten percent were undecided.
Fifty-four percent of the 600 likely voters surveyed had a
favorable opinion of Levin, a Detroiter who has been in the Senate
since 1978.
Nearly nine in 10 didn't yet recognize Hoogendyk's name.
The June 13 to 15 poll was conducted for The Detroit News and TV
stations WXYZ, WILX, WOOD and WJRT. It had a margin of sampling
error of plus or minus four percentage points.
Campaign finance reports show Levin is far ahead of Hoogendyk in
fundraising.
