CORRUPTION PROBE
Detroit City Councilwoman Barbara-Rose Collins
says the FBI questioned her about a 47 million-dollar sludge
recycling contract.
Collins says in published reports that the agents visited her
home yesterday morning.
Collins says she's a subject of the investigation, but is NOT a
target. She says agents told her of a taped conversation in which
two people discussed bribing her for a "yes" vote on the Synagro
Technologies deal. The contract passed 5-4 last
November.
Collins voted for the contract, but has denied taking money.
Houston-based Synagro has suspended one of its Michigan
officials and the contract of a Detroit consultant since the probe
began.
