New Era Canning Canning?
would allow it to start canning produce again after the federal
government halted production in December.
Company officials tell The Muskegon Chronicle for a story Monday
that canning isn't likely to resume until later this summer.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration shut down New Era Canning
after the company recalled 171 cases of restaurant-size cans of
green beans because an FDA inspection showed the potential for
botulism contamination.
The recall was expanded in January and again in February to add
peas, asparagus and more varieties of beans.
The family-owned company is based in New Era, about 20 miles
north of Muskegon.
