(wgvu) - Growing numbers of older drivers are
taking driver education classes.
They're re-learning skills that help them compensate for fading
eyesight and hearing and longer reaction times.
The Traffic Improvement Association is one of several groups
offering such classes. The group, based in Sylvan Lake in Oakland
County, offers 25 classes a year across Michigan. That's up from 10
a decade ago.
The state Transportation Department is accommodating older
drivers by replacing road signs with larger ones made with brighter
reflective material and more readable lettering.
