MCCAIN-MICHIGAN LANSING, MICH. (AP) (wgvu) - Republican presidential candidate John
McCain will open a regional campaign office for Michigan, Wisconsin
and Indiana today in the Detroit suburb of Farmington Hills.
Former Indiana GOP Executive Director Jennifer Hallowell will be
the regional campaign manager. She says the Arizona senator plans
to compete hard for Michigan.
McCain won Michigan's GOP primary in 2000. But the state hasn't
helped a Republican win the White House since it backed George H.W.
Bush in 1988.
Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama has begun running a
TV ad in Michigan and 17 other states as part of its effort to
raise the Illinois senator's profile in key states.
