Potential Obama Running Mates
(2008-06-20)
(wgvu) - Congresswoman Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick of
Detroit says she has encouraged Barack Obama's vice presidential
search committee to consider former Vice President Al Gore for the
second spot on the Democratic ticket.
Kilpatrick, who leads the Congressional Black Caucus, met with
two Obama advisers on Wednesday to offer her input on the Illinois
senator's potential running mate.
The congresswoman says she made several suggestions, including
Gore, who endorsed Obama in Detroit earlier this week, and
Pennsylvania Congressman John Murtha.
She says other members of the Congressional Black Caucus have
suggested former presidential candidate John Edwards, former
Georgia Senator Sam Nunn and Ohio Governor Ted Strickland.
Two prominent Democratic attorneys have been meeting with
lawmakers on Capitol Hill to ask about potential running mates for
Obama.
