Power Outage Investigation
(wgvu) - LANSING, Mich. (AP) - State regulators have ordered an
investigation into the prolonged power outages and other issues
involving how electric utilities responded to recent storms that
swept across Michigan.
About 720,000 customers of Michigan's two largest utilities lost
power for varying lengths of time from June 6 through Sunday.
Many Detroit Edison customers could not notify the utility of
outages and downed power lines via a toll-free phone number.
The Michigan Public Service Commission's chairman said Thursday
the outages and phone problems raise "serious concerns" that must
be investigated.
PSC staff will conduct an investigation over the next 60 days.
