Michigan's Unemployment Rate at New High USA (wgvu) - LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Michigan's unemployment rate jumped to 8.5
percent in May, hitting its highest monthly mark since late 1992.
The seasonally adjusted rate is up from 6.9 percent in April.
Michigan's jobless rate has been the nation's highest for
several months. The national rate in May was 5.5 percent.
The state made the announcement on Wednesday.
