US 31 Reopens
(wgvu) - The Michigan Department of
Transportation has reopened a section of U.S. 31 between Scottville
and Manistee as repair work continues after last week's flood.
The highway was closed after nearly a foot of rain fell in the
area within 12 hours last Thursday and Friday, causing part of the
road to wash out. Traffic will use two of the road's three lanes
for now.
The Ludington Daily News reports that repairs are expected to
cost about $250,000.
Ludington State Park has been reopened, but some campsites
remain unavailable.
In neighboring Manistee County, the road commission is
estimating damage to local roads at $500,000.
