Speaker Recall
Dillon may have run out of steam.
State elections officials already have said the recall attempt
failed because not enough valid signatures were turned in.
The Michigan Supreme Court on Wednesday rejected an emergency
appeal from recall supporters who wanted to argue that signatures
from voters inside Dillon's district should be counted even if they
were collected by petition circulators who live outside the
district.
The group might refile its appeal, but it's unclear if a final
ruling would come before the deadline to make the August ballot.
Dillon, a Democrat from Wayne County's Redford Township, was
targeted for recall because of the role he played in raising state
taxes last year.
