Walberg Radio Ads
(2008-05-30)
(wgvu) - Michigan Democrats are criticizing a new radio
ad by freshman Republican Congressman Tim Walberg.
The ads promoted a meeting about military service academies and
were paid for out of congressional funds.
They frequently mention Walberg's name, and some Democrats say
he's using public money to build up name recognition in an election
year.
House rules prohibit lawmakers from using taxpayer money for
communicating to constituents during a three-month window before an
election.
The blackout period for the August primary started in early May.
A Walberg aide says a bipartisan panel approved the ads.
