Dorm room of slain Eastern Mich. student to remain closed
(wgvu) - YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) - A dorm room where an Eastern Michigan
University student was slain will remain unoccupied when the
building reopens this fall.
The Ann Arbor News reports Thursday that Laura Dickinson's room
in Hill Hall on the Ypsilanti campus may be used for storage or
office space but will not house students.
School officials say the memory of her December 2006 slaying in
Room 518 still is too fresh.
Orange Taylor III has been sentenced to life in prison after
being convicted in April of first-degree murder in the 22-year-old
Hastings woman's death.
The case led to the firing of the university president and other
school officials after it was learned Dickinson's death initially
was not reported as a possible homicide and warnings were not
issued to the campus community.
