(wgvu) - MICHIGAN'S TOP 150 POLITICAL ACTION
COMMITTEES RAISED NEARLY $22 MILLION FROM JANUARY 2007 THROUGH THE
END OF MARCH 2008.
THE NONPARTISAN MICHIGAN CAMPAIGN FINANCE NETWORK SAYS THE $21.8
MILLION RAISED WAS 6 PERCENT LESS THAN THE SAME PERIOD IN
2005-2006. BUT IT WAS 17 PERCENT MORE THAN THE PREVIOUS CYCLE.
THE HOUSE DEMOCRATIC FUND RAISED THE MOST, AT $1.7 MILLION.
SENATE AND HOUSE REPUBLICANS EACH RAISED MORE THAN $1 MILLION TO
COME IN SECOND AND THIRD, BUT HAD TO REPAY DEBT FROM 2006.
THE MICHIGAN EDUCATION ASSOCIATION PAC WAS FOURTH WITH MORE THAN
$759,000.
NEXT IN LINE WAS THE MICHIGAN ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS, AT NEARLY
$697,000.
GOVERNOR JENNIFER GRANHOLM'S LEADERSHIP PAC TOOK IN MORE THAN
$626,000 OVER THE PERIOD.
