Oil Spill
spill in the Lower Harbor in Marquette.
The area was closed after the U.S. Coast Guard was notified of
the leak on Monday.
WLUC-TV reports the tugboat was pushing a barge when a
mechanical thruster broke off near the Shiras Generating Plant.
Coast Guard officials say environmental contractors have been
able to collect more than 30 gallons of oil using a vacuum truck.
They picked up more oiled debris from the shoreline.
Divers have located the thruster. The area is surrounded by a
containment boom, and boaters are asked to stay away. A crane and
salvage barge will try to recover the thruster by the weekend.
