Judge Investigated
Ingham County Circuit Judge Beverley Nettles-Nickerson be removed
from office.
The Michigan Judicial Tenure Commission unanimously found that
the judge fabricated documents, lied under oath in her divorce
proceeding and wrongly dismissed cases.
The Lansing State Journal says the commission also recommended
Tuesday that she be ordered to pay more than $128,000 in costs
associated with the case against her.
The recommendations now go to the Michigan Supreme Court. Its
seven members will decide whether to adopt the sanctions or impose
its own.
Nettles-Nickerson has been suspended with pay since June. Her
term ends this year, but she has filed to run for re-election.
